Downcast
In this platformer, use your magic to literally bring down your targets. Discover and defeat bosses to earn keys, and once you've unlocked a certain upgrade, you'll have to count your downs to get the most out of it.
Made in 96 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2026. The theme was Count Down. (I'm not sure it ended up suiting the theme that well... but in my defense, the theme is just meant to be a source of inspiration, so it doesn't have to fit perfectly.)

fun yet simple gimmick platformer!
LOVE!! Such a charming art style and the sound design is a delight and, of course, great game play. I feel like you could expand on this concept so easily, and I'd play the HELL outta it :D
Good game!
I really enjoyed the game mechanics, the art and atmosphere blend together nicely.
Wow, great art and a really cool gimmick. No notes, this could easily get a few more mechanics and content and be a real game!
Interesting Game, especially the way the theme got interpretated!
I love the Music and Visuel look.
The level design is good and i loved the puzzles.
the design that going back a hard section wasn't a hard task by itself was admirable.
i think the click cooldown might be nessessory as i was spaming the mouse click for most of the run. and after the upgrade for click cycle, maybe having a way to communicate that we are in which part of the cycle.
Well done!
Beat it with 21 hits, 5 deaths, 30:51 (I had to patch a bug in my own midway through haha)
Felt really fun, movement felt fast, mechanics built up nicely, pixelart was really good.
Only complaint was the hp bar blocked off the bottom of the screen so I couldn't tell where lower platforms were sometimes.
Thank you for playing!
The HP bar thing should be fixed now - it was bugging me too. I believe it was only an issue in one room (the "central" room of the upper area, accessible soon after you get the upgrade), so I moved the platform there up by one tile.
Ah, thanks.
Yeah, I think it was also a minor issue in the room with the first checkpoint next to the main room as well? But I don't remember that well haha.
